It’s almost Christmas time! Time to do some online shopping. Here I will list a couple of my all-time favourite books together with some nice deals I could find online. For those who are wondering why I promote other people’s product: Companies have affiliate programs. This basically means for every customer I send to their website, I get a small commission on what they purchase (without additional costs for the customer). Nonetheless, most of the products I mention I have myself or I ‘ve heard good stuff about them. Amazon is operating in different parts of the world, so please find the link that’s appropriate for you.

You can also just support this website by going to Amazon or NHBS through my advertising link and look for products yourself:

Black Friday Deals

I found a couple of different deals which might interest you, although they are different for each region. There is an affiliate rule I’m not allowed to write any prices myself, so click on the links to see how much discount you get. I focused here on Bushnell cameras, as that’s the brand I have more experience with.

Wildlife Stories

Jaguar: One Man’s Struggle To Establish The World’s First Jaguar Preserve

Dr. Alan Rabinowitz

This book is an ‘updated’ version of the book ‘Jaguar: One Man’s Struggle To Save Jaguars In The Wild” from 1986. It describes the early life of Dr. Alan Rabinowitz (CEO from Panthera) and his research in Cockscomb Basin Wildlife Sanctuary (CBWS), Belize. It’s a breathtaking story about the research and all the efforts and sacrifices he made. I was lucky to find a copy of his book from 1986 when I was volunteering in South Africa, and the next year I had to go and visit Belize. I visited CBWS. The cages he used to trap jaguars are still there, as are the leftovers from the plane he crashed (check my stories here).

Death in the Grizzly Maze: The Timothy Treadwell Story

This is the story from Timothy Treadwell, also known from the movie Grizzly Man. This story is not a happy ending story and probably did more bad than good for the grizzly bears, but his dedication was/is admirable.
